Zak Schlegel

Zak Ryan Schlegel is the founder of cross-genre salon CONGRESS, dance curator of Ryan Heffington’s residency DESERTRADE, educator at The Joffrey Ballet School, and a performer with Shen Wei. His choreography has been presented to the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA by The Juilliard School in NYC. His work has gained recognition in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal, referring to Zak as “a star” and his work as “eye-catching and effortless.”

Through extensive research of Eastern and Western movement traditions and philosophical tenets of observation, Zak has a deep understanding of the presence of being. His work focuses primarily on repetition and shifting layers to create a performance of technique and language.
